Learning Services' resident receives praise for his heroism.
On Thursday, February 28, 2008, Mr. Doug Heron, Director of Governmental Affairs, North Carolina Bar Association presented Marine Matt Newman a Wounded Warrior award in appreciation for his sacrifice in service to our country. Matt, combat wounded from an IED, requires on going treatment at Learning Services as he continues to recover from his wounds. The brief ceremony was attended by Command Sgt. Major Andrew L. Jackson (Ret) NC Transition Assistance Advisor, Mr. Heron, Deidre J. Lewis, Assitant Director of Section and Division Activities, NC Bar Association, Russ Oliver representing the Tar Heel Detachment, Marine Corps League and several others of the NC Bar Association staff. We all extend to Marine Newman our heartfelt and sincere thanks for his having put his life on the line for our freedom.*
