An article that appeared in the February 23, 2009 edition of the Morgan Hill Times speaks to how local senior citizens fear budget cuts at Morgan Hill’s Centennial Recreation Center. The article goes on to say how beneficial the program is for seniors, both socially and nutritionally. One interesting fact about the article was the accompanying photo, which showcases a Learning Services resident, Jesus Mendoza, volunteering his time to serve the elderly.
“Community involvement is a cornerstone principle at Learning Services and an important part of our philosophy”, says Dr. Jill Winegardner, the Regional Program Director for Learning Services in Northern California. Dr. Winegardner goes on to say that “Jesus was looking for a way to be engaged after his rehabilitation and found it when he came to our Morgan Hill facility. We are so proud of him.”
