Learning Services provides a broad range of specialized care for individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI), including post acute neuro-rehabilitation. Our community-based neuro-rehabilitation programs for adults with ABI or TBI include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing and psychology services. The therapists evaluate, develop, and implement treatment programs designed specifically for each individual. The therapists also provide direction to the other members of the neuro-rehabilitation team in the incorporation of compensatory strategies so that there is a true "across disciplines" or trans-disciplinary approach to treatment. This serves to increase the number of opportunities for the person with a brain injury to receive consistent cuing in the use of functional strategies or adaptive approaches.
Post acute neuro-rehabilitation services are offered in residential settings, which are staffed 7 days a week, 24 hours per day.
Therapy Extension activities are provided by Learning Services' Life Skills Trainers (LSTs), who are educated and qualified in issues specific to brain injury rehabilitation. The LST role is to optimize the treatment process by implementing programs developed by the licensed therapists. These programs may include:
