Our History

Learning Services has provided services for people with brain injuries for more than 20 years.  By the mid-1980s, Learning Services was recognized as a specialist in comprehensive, community-integrated, post acute, neuro-rehabilitation services.  Over the past two decades, we've grown to extend our services beyond  post-acute rehabilitation to include a continuum of care, including residential rehabilitation, neurobehavioral rehabilitation, supported and independent living, and therapeutic day activity programs.

Learning Services provides community integrated, specialized services for individuals with acquired brain injury.  We offer a full range of support, including evaluation, residential rehabilitation services, supported living, and assisted living, each with a varying degrees of monitoring and supervision. Our  residential model includes clinical support from licensed therapists (physical, occupational, psychological, pathological, speech, and language) medical specialists (physiatrists, neuropsychiatrists, neurosurgeons and neurologists), and facility-based case managers and  life-skill trainers educated in issues specific to brain injury.  Services are designed to develop the use of compensatory stratagies by the individual and his or her support network to encourage increased independence.

Clients receiving evaluation services are assessed by clinical support teams in various community-based settings. Findings and recommendations are provided to each client’s support network.

Residential rehabilitation clients have the option of moving through the continuum of care as progress indicates, and to develop functional skills in increasingly natural settings.  This progression eases the transition from program to home, minimizes the incidence of unexpected challenges and risks of re-injury, and maximizes the durability of gains.

Supported and assisted living clients receive individualized services, which may include support in avocational, vocational, therapeutic/productive, and leisure activities.  Assistance with activities of daily living is available as needed.  Periodic reviews and intervention by the clinical support team facilitate a dynamic approach to meeting the ongoing needs of the client and his or her support network.
