The Admissions Process

The admission process begins with a collaborative exchange of information aimed at determining whether Learning Services can support the needs of a potential candidate. During this initial exchange, the Learning Services' staff begins to understand the scope of a person’s challenges related to the injury, as well as personal goals. Consideration may then be given to the combination of services and financial resources necessary to best support a candidate. In general, candidates will present with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) as a result of:
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Anoxia/Hypoxia
  • Stroke
  • Disease process

The process continues with a Pre-Admission Screening (PAS) which is our opportunity to interview and evaluate the candidate. A program tour is offered which gives the candidate and their family an opportunity to consider Learning Services firsthand. Following the PAS process, a list of proposed services and a financial quote is presented to the candidate’s team for consideration. Learning Services’ programs offer solutions to life’s challenges after ABI through the following continuum of services:

  • Community-based supported living in group homes, community residences and supported apartments with up to 24 hour structured supervision for life skill training and management.
  • On-going residential rehabilitation supporting generalization and integration of skills needed to address mobility, communication, cognitive and chronic health management, as well as, psychological and behavioral challenges.
  • Coordinated supports to reduce the likelihood of complications related to health, behavioral, or functional impairments from brain injury.  These include nutritional concerns, seizure disorder, bowel and bladder incontinence, sensory impairments, mobility impairments, and social-behavioral challenges.
  • Services supporting the pursuit of work, educational, volunteer, or avocational endeavors.
Admission/Transfer Criteria*
Requires up to 24-hour supervision, Medically Stable, Ages 18 and above, Viable Funding Source.
 
*Exceptions may be made per local licensing standards. Diagnoses, conditions and admission criteria may vary slightly by location.
